Kemen Dantza Taldea was founded in 1973, at the initiative of the Txingudi Ikastola School in Irun-Hondarribia. Two years ago, we turned 50, half a century. Since its founding, the group has expanded and expanded to stabilize as an important group at the regional level.
It aims to maintain and strengthen certain traditions that Kemen has recovered in his native country and to work for the dissemination of Basque dance culture. In our dance sessions we show an overview of the cultural heritage of the Basque Country.
One of the aims of Kemen Dantza Taldea is to maintain and disseminate Basque culture and folklore, and to reach beyond Basque Country. It brings its main repertoire to international folklore festivals, and while learning the culture and dance of other countries, it represents the Basque Country and makes our culture known to its inhabitants.
Our culture, customs, and dances have several peculiarities. Our dances have their character, their origin, and their style, which does not resemble those of other countries of Europe. Our repertoire is particularly extensive and contains one of the richest folkloric expressions that remain at European level.
